GTS 17

The GTS 17 is designed exclusively for the personal studio and is perfectly large enough and small enough all at the same time.

The firing chamber fits our 16" x 16" shelf that offers 1.8 cubic feet of firing surface. The 13.5" depth means you're good-to-go for tall draping and slumping projects. All this in a personal studio package that's just a little over 2 feet wide.

The GTS 17 is designed and built with the same feature-set and performance standards as our larger models and is well suited for all glass firing operations including fusing, slumping, draping, painting and kiln-casting up to 1800°F (982°C)

The GTS 17 features our TAP II, Icon+, Icon and Rampmaster 3 controls and is standard equipped with our exclusive Swing View Adjustable Viewing.

Order yours with our Quiet Drive Solid State relay option for tight temperature control and longer element life.

Features

Top Load

The GTS 17 is a top loading design and offers a 17" x 17"chamber, 13.5" deep. Our easy to handle 16" x 16" shelf translates into 1.8 square feet of glass firing bliss.

Fiber & Firebrick Design

The GTS 17 is constructed of both fiber and firebrick.

Fiber is used in the lid to speed up the firing process to avoid devitrification and provide for a lighter weight lid.

Firebrick is used in both the walls and floor and provides excellent heat-storage properties which helps smooth out temperature swings and is awesome for annealing. By its nature, firebrick cleans up the temperature fluctuations that "all-fiber" kilns experience. You want a portion of firebrick in your glass kiln.

Swing View Equipped

GTS 17 temperature controls are fitted to our Swing View Adjustable Enclosure.

The swing view is a pivoting, swing-up enclosure that allows you to rotate the control to a comfortable viewing and programming angle. Once you're done, lay it back down to see it from across your studio. It's that simple.

The swing view pairs well with touchscreen controls like the TAP II, Icon+ and Icon as viewing angle can be perfectly aligned. You'll love it.

Relay Access Port

The GTS 17 incorporates our Relay Access Port for simple, no-panel-off relay replacement.

Simply remove the access plate to gain access to the mechanical relay. There's no need to remove the control panel and dig into the internal wiring. It's absolutely simple and effective and all it takes is a screwdriver!

It's a given that mechanical relays will fail at some point. This relay access port really comes in handy when they do.

Bench-Top Operation

The GTS 17 can be placed directly on your counter or bench-top or within the included floor stand (see below), the choice is yours.

Please note that counters and bench tops must be constructed of non-combustible material and be capable of supporting the load of the kiln.

Elemented Fiber Lid

The lid of the GTS 17 is constructed of a special fiber material that provides excellent thermal properties along with light weight. This design allows the heating elements to be positioned on the surface for maximum heat transfer and firing efficiency.

We also position these lid heating elements left to right to prevent them from sagging or bunching-up with repeated opening and closing. It's a small but important detail that guarantees performance and satisfaction over the life of the kiln.

Floor Stand included

The GTS 17 is supplied with a 16" stand for optional floor placement if desired.

Maintenance Parts Tag

To assist you in replacing worn items we have included a maintenance parts tag on the GTS 17 indicating the proper Evenheat part numbers for anticipated maintenance items.

Wish we had this decades ago.

Power Interrupt Switch Equipped

The GTS 17 is standard equipped with a power interrupt switch which removes electrical power from all heating elements if either the lid or chamber is opened.

This is important for those who may access the kiln during firing such as glass manipulation and roll-ups.

Build Options

Multiple Control Options

The GTS 17 is available in a variety of controls including the Icon, Icon+, Tap II and Rampmaster 3.

At Evenheat we take the best control platforms on the market and make them even better by adding Special Limits thermocouples for precise temperature sensing and non-metallic faceplates for stellar Wi-Fi reception for on-line Apps. Visit our Controls tab to learn more about our controls and why they represent the very best that you can get.

Quiet Drive Solid State Relay Option

GTS 17 models are available with our Quiet Drive Solid State Relay option.

Our Quiet Drive Solid State Relay System offers tight temperature control, high reliability and increased heating element life. The Quiet Drive is arguably the best designed and best performing solid state system on the market.

Voltage Options

Our default production for GTS 17 is 240V, Single Phase.

We do offer to build in 200V, 208V, 220V and 230V by request.

All controls available on the GTS 17 will operate properly on both 50Hz and 60Hz line frequencies. To say it another way, line frequency has no effect. It doesn't matter.

Evenheat recommends that you check your operating voltage before ordering or placing the kiln in service.

Voltage Phase Options

GTS 17 models are produced in a single phase design only.

3 phase Delta and Y (380V, 400V and 415V) designs are not available.

We offer shelf posts ranging from 1/2" to 6". In general you will always want to post up your firing shelf. We recommend using at least a 1/2" post.

Haik Brushes

Our Brushes are a wide and very soft brush used to apply shelf primer.

Shelf Primer - 24oz. (Dry)

Shelf primer creates a layer of protection between the kiln shelf and your glass as it prevents your glass from sticking to the shelf. It is generally applied using a soft brush like our Haik brush. It can also be airbrushed on with the proper equipment.

Our shelf primer of choice is a Hotline product called Hi-Fire. It's supplied in dry form and is mixed with water for application onto the kiln shelves.
