GTS 23
Born in the days of the warm glass revolution the GTS 23 is the original studio kiln. Its perfect studio size, easy-to-load shelf and reliable performance were unmatched. That tradition continues to this day.
Built entirely of firebrick the GTS 23 holds true to the original design while updating controls, features and performance.
The GTS 23 can be ordered with our TAP II, Icon+, Icon touchscreen controls or traditional Rampmaster 3 and is standard equipped with our exclusive Swing View Adjustable Viewing.
Order yours with our Quiet Drive Solid State relay option for tight temperature control and longer element life.
Features
Top Load
The GTS 23 is a top loading design and offers a chamber 23.5" diameter 13.5" deep. Load depth is about 32" which is at waist height or lower. The 21" shelf is very manageable.
All Firebrick Design
As with the original design the GTS 23 is constructed completely of firebrick.
Firebrick is desired in a glass kiln as it stores heat in the beginning of the firing which acts to smooth out temperature swings. It then releases heat slowly at the completion of the firing resulting in very calm annealing, especially over an annealing range. It's just beautiful.
As with any glass kiln, you want a portion of firebrick in the mix.
Swing View Equipped
GTS 23 temperature controls are fitted to our Swing View Adjustable Enclosure.
The swing view is a pivoting, swing-up enclosure that allows you to rotate the control to a comfortable viewing and programming angle. Once you're done, lay it back down to see it from across your studio. It's that simple.
The swing view pairs well with touchscreen controls like the TAP II, Icon+ and Icon as viewing angle can be perfectly aligned. You'll love it.
Relay Access Port
The GTS 23 incorporates our Relay Access Port for simple, no-panel-off relay replacement.
Simply remove the access plate to gain access to the mechanical relays. There's no need to remove the control panel and dig into the internal wiring. It's absolutely simple and effective and all it takes is a screwdriver!
It's a given that mechanical relays will fail at some point. This relay access port really comes in handy when they do.
2 Position Lid Vent
The GTS 23 is equipped with a 2 position lid vent.
The lower vent position props the lid by about an inch. Perfect for venting off adhesives and other low temperature binding materials.
The upper vent position props the lid by about 4 inches. Perfect for speeding up the cooling process.
Maintenance Parts Tag
To assist you in replacing worn items we have included a maintenance parts tag on the GTS 23 indicating the proper Evenheat part numbers for anticipated maintenance items.
Wish we had this decades ago.
Build Options
Multiple Control Options
The GTS 23 is available in a variety of controls including the Icon, Icon+, Tap II and Rampmaster 3.
At Evenheat we take the best control platforms on the market and make them even better by adding Special Limits thermocouples for precise temperature sensing and non-metallic faceplates for stellar Wi-Fi reception for on-line Apps. Visit our Controls tab to learn more about our controls and why they represent the very best that you can get.
Quiet Drive Solid State Relay Option
GTS 23 models are available with our Quiet Drive Solid State Relay option.
Our Quiet Drive Solid State Relay System offers tight temperature control, high reliability and increased heating element life. The Quiet Drive is arguably the best designed and best performing solid state system on the market.
Rolling Option
The GTS 23 is easily made mobile with our rolling option.
The GTS 23 base is equipped to accept our casters. No frame or extra hardware required. Simply attach the casters to the standard base and you're ready to go!
Casters are not factory installed. You will install them when you first set up your kiln. It's designed to be easy and it is. They can always be added later as well.
Voltage Options
Our default production for the GTS 23 is 240V, Single Phase.
We do offer to build in 200V, 208V, 220V and 230V by request.
All controls available on the GTS 23 will operate properly on both 50Hz and 60Hz line frequencies. To say it another way, line frequency has no effect. It doesn't matter.
Evenheat recommends that you check your operating voltage before ordering or placing the kiln in service.
Voltage Phase Options
The GTS 23 is available in 3 phase Delta and Wye (380V, 400V and 415V) designs by request.

Accessories
GTS 23 Dyna-Lift Lift Assist
The GTS 23 Dyna-Lift lift assist reduces the effort needed to open the lid to approximately 11lbs. (5kg).
The Dyna-Lift lift assist simply attaches to the kiln base and lid handle, it does not attach to the kiln chamber. This patented design directs all lifting forces to the kiln base while keeping the kiln chamber clear of any long-term damaging forces.
Shipped pre-assembled for very easy installation.
The GTS 23 Dyna-Lift is designed for GTS 23 models Serial Number 125990 and greater only.
GTS 23 Full Shelf
Full Shelf - 21"
We recommend that you always use posts under your shelf to raise it off the floor and suggest starting with 1" posts. You are welcome to use any size post you wish. We do not recommend placing the shelf directly on the kiln floor.
Posts
Posts are used to bring your shelf up and off the kiln floor. Generally speaking you always want to "post-up" your shelves. Posting up allows heat to get to the underside of the shelf which helps to eliminate and minimizes bubbles. It also helps to minimize differences in shelf temperature to avoid breaking.
We suggest 1" posts as a starting point. We do not recommend placing shelves directly on the kiln floor.
Haik Brushes
Our Brushes are a wide and very soft brush used to apply shelf primer.
Shelf Primer - 24oz. (Dry)
Shelf primer creates a layer of protection between the kiln shelf and your glass as it prevents your glass from sticking to the shelf. It is generally applied using a soft brush like our Haik brush. It can also be airbrushed on with the proper equipment.
Our shelf primer of choice is a Hotline product called Hi-Fire. It's supplied in dry form and is mixed with water for application onto the kiln shelves.
